About the Presenting Artists(s)

Alex Goodman is a Juno-nominated guitarist, bandleader and composer, and winner of first prize and the Public's Choice Award at the 2014 Montreux Jazz Festival International Guitar Competition. Hailed as “one of New York’s most vital young guitarists” (Jazziz), “an important emerging voice on his instrument” (New York City Jazz Record) and as a player of “fluid lyricism” (Downbeat), Goodman’s 2011 quintet LP “Bridges”, was nominated for a Juno Award, as the year’s best contemporary jazz album. In addition to his seven albums as leader or co-leader, Goodman is featured on recordings with such artists as John Patitucci, Dick Oatts, and Rich Perry. Goodman performs regularly in ensembles led by Manuel Valera, Lucas Pino, Mareike Wiening, Martina DaSilva, Roxy Coss and Remy Le Boeuf, among others.
